Dansk Røde Kors' mindetegn ”Dansk krigsfangehjælp 1914 til 1919”. The Danish Red Cross Commemorative Medal for Aid to Prisoners of War 1914-1919 (1919). In 1919 the Danish Red Cross marked the end of the official Danish relief effort in aid of international POWs of the First World War by issuing a commemorative medal. The official description of this award is in the Danish National Archives. As the document has at some point been damaged by mould, the text is quoted here in its entirety. Da danskerne rejste fra borgerkrigen. Dansk krigsfangehjælp i Sovjetrusland og Sibirien 1917-20. Danish Aid to Prisoners of War in Soviet Russia and Siberia 1917-20. One of the neglected areas of Danish historiography is the subject of ”Danish Aid to Prisoners of War in Soviet Russia and Siberia 1917-20” where Denmark played an international role during and after the First World War. There are large quantities of unprocessed source documents in Danish archives, but practically no literature on this subject. No research has as yet been carried out on source documents in Russian archives. In the following we shall be tracing the steps of a young Dane, William Axel Sliben in order to describe his work on behalf of POWs, which included the evacuation of POWs who originated from Southern Denmark. In 1920 the relief work had to be discontinued, whereupon Siberia organized the evacuation of Danish civilians resident there through Soviet Russia to Denmark. Frits Brøndal: fra Magasin du Nord til døden i et fængsel i Rostov ved Don. Dansk krigsfangehjælp i Rusland og Ukraine 1917-19. The road from one of Copenhagen’s leading department stores to his death in prison in Rostov on the Don. Danish Aid to Prisoners of War in Russia and the Ukraine. In 1917-18, Denmark was responsible for aid to POWs from the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, captured in Russia and Siberia. World War I was raging, and in April 1917, after the U. S. A. entered the war, Denmark, a neutral power, took over the U. S. A's former provision of aid to POWs. This remained Denmark's task until her official break with Soviet Russia in December 1918. The Danish Red Cross (DRK) also worked in Russia and Siberia from 1916-19, when it became necessary to discontinue all POW aid due to the advance of the Red Army. The Bolsheviks brought their country out of the world war, but into a civil war 1918-20 during which prisoners of war perished. Frits Brøndal was one of the young Danish delegates whom the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent to its newly created Section B (POW aid) at the Royal Danish Legation in St. Petersburg, then Petrograd. Esther Aksel-Hansen: Breve fra Petrograd 1917-18. Det Kongelige Bibliotek, NKS 5244, 4°. The Danish Embassy in Saint Petersburg during the Days of the Russian Revolution. Letters in Danish, edited by Bernadette Preben-Hansen. Vesterbro 2008. A large collection of private letters written in Saint Petersburg (Petrograd) in the years of the Russian Revolution can be found in the Royal Library in Copenhagen. These letters were written in Danish by a young Danish woman, employed as a typist in the Danish Embassy in Petrograd. The addressee in Copenhagen was the young woman’s mother. Between May 1917 and May 1918 one hundred letters were sent in the diplomatic bag from Petrograd to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen, to be forwarded to the writer’s family. These letters give us a word picture of the Russian Revolution as it appeared to a young woman. The daily consequences of the revolution are recorded with the detachment peculiar to a privileged foreigner, either watching from the windows of the Embassy, or while walking along the Neva, during sleigh-rides through the city or during evening visits to the city’s railway stations. This publication contains a complete transcription of the entire collection of letters. The transcribed letters have been annotated using material from the archives of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the archives of the Danish Embassy in Petrograd for the years 1917-18. Both archives are preserved in the Danish State Archives in Copenhagen
Emil Frederik Preben-Hansen: Erindringer om mit ophold i Rusland i året 1907: en dansk smørmands fotoarkiv fra Rybinsk. Memories from Rybinsk. A Danish Family in Russia 1907-19. Vesterbro 2007. Early in the 20th century the Danish family Preben-Hansen moved to Russia and Siberia in order to found a business, buying butter. The young Emil Preben-Hansen settled in Rybinsk on the banks of the Volga in 1907. He kept an account of his first impressions from Rybinsk, describing his working-days buying up butter, his contact with the local people and the weekly markets. He photographed the district, the river Volga and Russian day-to-day life. This article presents his photo-archives as sources for Danish-Russian relations in the beginning of the 20th century. The photographs from Rybinsk are supplemented with descriptions from the young photographer’s diaries. All of the photographic material are still owned by his descendents, but are intended to be handed over to the Danish State Archives in Copenhagen

Данная статья рассказывает о фотоархиве Пребена­Ганзена как источнике датско­русских отношений начала 19­го века. Затем следуют его дневниковые записи о жизни в Рыбинске.
